Drive technology for automotive industry: Ziehl-Abegg invests 27 million Euros in new plant

Ziehl-Abegg has invested a total of around 27 million Euros into the building, located just off the A6 Autobahn that runs across southern Germany. An additional 3 million Euros went into expanding the machinery park.

The new construction by Ziehl-Abegg will create better opportunities for developers. There are multiple test benches and two test lifts. At the same time, the company is underlining its manufacturing depth: "In the new plant, we are currently processing around 500 tonnes of steel, copper, magnets, cable and electronics per year," explains Werner Bundscherer, Divisional Manager for drive technology.

"We have created an environment where development, production and sales have the best opportunities," says Chief Technical Officer Norbert Schuster, who directed the construction of the new plant. The work stations are user-friendly and well ventilated with modern social facilities. The short distances with improved material flow on one floor create the perfect conditions for lean production. "Our customers will benefit from shorter lead times," explains Divisional Manager Bundscherer.

The drive technology division contributes around 15 percent of the Ziehl-Abegg Group's total revenue. "In the past year, we have achieved total revenue of 388 million Euros and are now predicting high single-digit growth," says Chief Financial Officer Achim Curd Rägle.
