Asansör Istanbul 2017 gives the sector a major lift

The biennial Asansor Istanbul returned for its 15th edition from 23 -26 March 2017 at the Tüyap Convention and Exhibition Center Istanbul. Organised by İFO Fair Organization, Asansor Istanbul 2017 enjoyed the exclusive support of Turkey’s most important elevator industry body, AYSAD (The Turkish Lift and Escalator Industrialists Association), a member of the European Lift Association (ELA).

The opening of the show was officiated over by the General Director of Safety and Inspection of Industrial Products from Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Uğur Büyükhatipoğlu, President of AYSAD İzzet Güven, President of Quality,Safety, Environment&Education Committee of ELA (European Lift Association) Christophe Isaac Castiau, Asansör Istanbul Exhibiton Committee Chairman Sefa Targıt, Turkish Standards Institute General Secretary Mehmet Bozdemir and Managing Director of İFO Fair Organization Zekeriya Aytemur.

Other VIP’s attending the 15th International Asansör Istanbul Exhibition, was Vice Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Çelik, who took the opportunity to visit the stands of local producing companies to gather information about their activities.

The 28,629 professional visitors included lift installers and service companies, lift components manufacturers and suppliers, building and construction sector representatives architect & engineering companies, certification bodies, coming from 76 different countries. In addition to the many thousands of professional trade visitors from Turkey, Asansör Istanbul 2017 hosted 5,037 international trade buyers from across the region with Eurasia, the Balkans, Middle East and North Africa well represented. Agreements worth approximately 1 billion Turkish liras were either initiated or signed during four hectic days.

The agendas of the lift sector were discussed at the conferences

Organized as part of the Asansor Istanbul 2017 event with the support of AYSAD and the ELA (European Lift Association), was a program of internationally respected speakers who presented their latest findings, experiences and views of the sector’s future challenges and opportunities. Elif Özlem Babaoğlu from the department of Examination and Certification, Vocational Qualifications Authority, spoke on “Obligation of Certfication in the Lift Sector”. On the second day Ebru Gemici Loukas from the VDMA gave a speech on “Statistics of Lifts and Escalators” and Christophe Isaac Castiau from the ELA presented data about the “Global Lift Industry”.

In a special session titled “Periodic Controls of Lift” the President of AYSAD, İzzet Güven acted as moderator and was joined by İlyas Menderes Büyüklü from T.C. Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Aziz Bilge and Oğuzhan Bulgurluoğlu from AYSAD, Lift Consultant Serdar Tavaslıoğlu and Oğuz Yanık and Battal Öztürk from EAYSAD.

Technologies designed to meet the needs of the 450 thousand lifts in Turkey, the 5.8 million in Europe and 10 million worldwide, were on display at Asansor Istanbul 2017!

Displaying the newest and most innovative technologies designed to keep the world’s ever growing stock of lifts in good and safe working order, Asansör Istanbul 2017 was heralded a major success as exhibitors profited from the opportunity to access new markets, reunite with existing customers and organize new cooperation and trade agreements.

Occupational Health & Safety for lift installers and service personnel proved a popular focus!

Organised by the Turkish Occupational Safety Association (ISGDER), Asansör Istanbul hosted dedicated sessions about Occupational Health & Safety for employees during installation and servicing of Lifts. Visitors benefitted greatly the live demonstrations of safely working at height with hands-on training on a raised platform in the exhibition hall.

Asansor Istanbul will return for the 16th edition in 2019 where once again the global lift and escalator sector will gather.
